THIS Morning fans were left unimpressed today as Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary interviewed a woman who had cloned her cat.
Kelly Anderson, from Texas, spent £19,000 to bring back a version of her beloved Chai who died at a young age.
Now, the American cat lover has a new kitten called Belle, which is said to be a “100 percent genetic twin” of Chai.
But she admitted that while they look the same, Belle’s personality is “completely different”.
She explained: “She is her own cat. I never expected her to be Chai, I never wanted her to be Chai. It is a piece of Chai and that is what matters most to me, that I get to carry on a piece of her.”
Cloning dogs and cats is relatively new and controversial.

And those watching at home struggled to understand why she didn’t just adopt a new feline friend.
Taking to Twitter to discuss it, one person wrote: “So many rescue cats looking for good homes and this clown clones one! #ThisMorning.”
A second added: “Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a woman has paid $25,000 to clone a cat!
#ThisMorning.”
While a third remarked: “If it’s a different cat why didn’t she just get a rescue cat #ThisMorning.”
Kelly insisted that she does in fact also foster cats – and has homed over 100 in the past.
Defending her decision, she told Alison and Dermot: “I did adopt one after she passed. Because Chai was young, I felt like I didn’t have that time with her, so wanted a piece of her to carry on.
“It’s definitely a lot of money but people spend that kind of money every day on cars, or more , and no one says anything about that.”
Discussing her decision, she previously told The Celeb Report: “There was just something special and different about Chai. I don’t know really, I can’t put it into words. She was just that pet for me. I’ve never had a pet like her. And I wanted to carry on a piece of her.”
