Phil Mitchell is growing suspicious of him

1. Secret child revealed

Elaine Peacock arrived in the Square to help her daughter Linda (played by Kellie Bright) run The Vic smoothly.

However, she failed to mention she wouldn’t be settling down in Walford alone as she was followed by her partner George Knight (Colin Salmon) and his two daughters, Anna and Gina.

The trio moved to the fictional London borough from Marbella and it was revealed that George’s wife Rose had walked out on them nine years earlier.

But Linda isn’t fully convinced and she pays close attention to George’s every move this week on BBC One.

It all begins at The Vic, with Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) planning a “Battle of the Dads” karaoke competition.

Still suspicious of George, Linda talks to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) about Rose’s disappearance.

After some persuasion, Phil agrees to find out what he can to ensure he’s not going into business with someone he can’t trust.

The Walford tough man soon convinces a reluctant Callum Highway (Tony Clay) to search the police database to put Linda’s mind at rest.

Callum’s investigations come to nothing as George has a relatively clean record, but when he looks up Rose, all access is denied.

When Linda hears, she’s convinced this proves that George is dodgy.

In later scenes, Phil invites George to spar at the Boxing Den and asks him directly about Rose.

But the mysterious newcomer insists there’s nothing to tell and Linda’s got him wrong – but will Phil believe him?

To be certain he can trust George, Phil is stalling to sign the deal with him and ropes his solicitor Richie Scott in to dig up dirt on Rose.

When he arrives at The Vic on the pretence that they will complete the contracts, Phil accuses George of not being straight with him.

The truth about Rose Knight will finally be uncovered in upcoming scenes of the London-based drama.

But while many are convinced George has a connection to Cindy Beale, they’ve all forgotten another secret needs clarity.

In recent scenes of the long-running soap, George revealed to Phil Mitchell that he had a son who “goes off the rails.”

He then added: “I don’t see much of him – his choice, not mine.”

Will we finally know who George’s secret son is?

Could he be a Walford resident who has yet to bump into George?

Are fans correct to believe that Cindy Beale and Rose Knight are the same person?

Can Ben find a way to cope?

2. Escape from the Square for Ben

Speaking of going off the rails, Ben Mitchell is struggling to cope this week and his daughter Lexi pays the price.

Lexi Pearce (played by Isabella Brown) is trying to process her mother’s heart-breaking death which was aired earlier this month on our screens.

Members of her family are doing everything they can to support her and help her process Lola’s demise – but her father Ben is unable to give her what she needs as he fights his own private battles.

Coming up, over at No.18, Ben and Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) try to tempt withdrawn Lexi out for lunch.

When Lexi tells them she wants to speak at Lola’s funeral, Ben forbids it, fearing it’ll be too much for her.

Lexi is furious, and Ben breaks down in the face of her anger until Jay steps in to make peace.

They agree  to talk it over at lunch, and Ben reveals that he’s decorated Lexi’s bedroom, so it’s now ready for her to move in.

In later scenes at Walford East, Ben is struggling with his bulimia when Jay has to take a call and heads out.

With the toilets closed, he starts panicking and leaves Lexi alone in Walford East.

Lexi is devastated by the sight of a mother and daughter together and runs out into the Square.

Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) is horrified to see her and realises Ben left her by herself.

The market trader is fuming and decides to lay the law down to Ben – he has to step up and be the father that Lexi deserves.

Shaken up by the incident, later on, Ben backtracks on having Lexi live with him, fully convinced he would be a bad father.

With the pressure piling up on him, one could speculate Ben may be tempted to give up on his life in the Square altogether and leave Walford behind.

He recently sold The Arches to Sharon Watts who turned it into a business opportunity for her fiancé Keanu Taylor, meaning Ben has lost one of his biggest ties to the borough.

And with Jay ready to raise Lexi as her own, Ben could be more tempted than ever to start afresh away from Albert Square.

Could Vinny be the mystery Christmas victim?

3. Vinny in danger

Elsewhere in the Square, Vinny Panesar recently found out about his mother’s affair with Eve Unwin.

After asking her to break things off, Vinny decides to take things to a whole new level this week.

The Panesars celebrate Father’s Day and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) is throwing herself into playing the perfect wife and mother.

Vinny (Shiv Jalota) on the other hand, can’t help sniping at her, knowing how she truly feels.

The Panesars gather with Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and his son Nugget at The Vic to celebrate as a family, but Vinny is annoyed to see Eve (Heather Peace) there.

When Suki goes to the toilet, Eve accosts her and begs her to stop living a lie.

Waiting outside the ladies’, Vinny has a go at Suki and then threatens Eve.

But it takes a lot more than threats to intimidate Eve and she tells him to do his worst.

Suki panics when Vinny disappears and he immediately hatches a plan to get rid of Eve.

He heads straight to Taylor’s Autos and tampers with the brakes on Finlay Baker’s sportscar, knowing Eve is about to drive it to Brighton.

Suki soon clocks that Vinny has tampered with the car Eve is about to drive and rushes to Taylor’s Autos.

Soap viewers know that six of Walford’s matriarchs, including Suki, are lined up for an explosive murder mystery during the Christmas season.

Many have speculated Nish Panesar will be the mystery male victim shown in a flashforward teasing the whodunnit.

But could it be Vinny?

Could Suki’s only remaining son pay with his life for his scheming against Eve?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
