TV Star Dennis Waterman Leaves Half a Million Pounds in Will

Popular Actor Passes Away After Battle with Lung Cancer

Legal documents have revealed that beloved TV star Dennis Waterman left behind almost £500,000 in his will. Waterman, best known for his roles in Minder and The Sweeney, passed away at the age of 74 in May last year after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

A Tough Guy on and off Screen

Dennis Waterman, a four-times married actor, gained fame for his tough guy roles. He played the bodyguard Terry McCann in the hit TV show Minder from 1979 to 1994, alongside actor George Cole. Waterman also starred in The Sweeney from 1975 to 1978, portraying a member of the Metropolitan Police's flying squad alongside John Thaw. In his later years, he appeared in the BBC's New Tricks as part of a "cold case" team of former cops.

Estate Left to Wife Pamela

Waterman's estate, valued at £485,540, was left to his wife Pamela. The actor and comedian Paddy McGuinness paid tribute to Waterman after his death. McGuinness shared that he and his cast mates from Phoenix Nights used to sing the theme tune to Minder during their tours and karaoke nights. He expressed his sadness at never having had the opportunity to meet Waterman, stating that he had always wanted to be like Terry McCann.

Another icon from McGuinness' childhood gone, Waterman will be remembered for his memorable performances on screen and his contribution to British television.
