Janey Reveals Adoption Struggle

On a recent episode of the popular dating show My Mum, Your Dad, viewers were left feeling concerned for the children involved as they witnessed their parents breaking down in tears. The emotional scenes arose during a session with a psychotherapist, where the singletons discussed their dating issues. New arrival Janey, 47, opened up about being adopted, explaining her difficulties in forming lasting relationships. Her 19-year-old son, Will, admitted his surprise at her revealing this personal information so early on in the process.

Viewer Concerns

As the show aired, many viewers expressed their worry for the children involved and questioned whether it was appropriate for them to witness such emotional moments. One person took to social media, writing, "What a nightmare for the children to watch/spy on their parents having psychological counselling! Who’s counselling them??" Another viewer commented, "This workshop is striking me again - should their kids be privy to this??" And a third viewer added, "I think the children watching these conversations that the parents think are private is really disrespectful. Bad idea."

Previous Controversy: Children Spying on Their Parents

This is not the first time the show has faced criticism for involving the children in potentially inappropriate situations. In a previous episode, the kids of the dating parents were seen using binoculars to spy on their parents during a date. During a paddleboarding activity, the children monitored the proceedings from a nearby cabin, secretly advising the supervising yoga teacher via a hidden earpiece. This incident also raised questions about whether the children should be exposed to and involved in their parents' dating experiences.

Hosted by Davina McCall, My Mum, Your Dad features contestants aged between 44 and 58 appearing alongside their children, who nominated them in their quest for true love. While the show aims to provide a unique dating experience, the inclusion of the children has sparked concern among viewers, particularly in regard to emotional moments and privacy.
