SAVVY Marvel fans think they’ve worked out who was trying to send the Scarlet Witch a message on WandaVision.
The Disney+ show follows Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Vision, Paul Bettany, as they navigate a middle-class suburban lifestyle in the town of Westview, trying to hide their superpowers from their neighbours.
In the second episode, set in the 1960s, Wanda attends a committee meeting run by local housewives who are organising the town’s magic show fundraiser.
She gets into a discussion with head housewife Dottie (Emma Caulfield Ford), when she’s interrupted by a voice coming out of the retro radio.
“Who’s doing this to you, Wanda?” the mysterious voice asks.
Marvel fans think the voice belongs to Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) who is now working for the intelligence organisation known as S.W.O.R.D and first appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp as AntMan’s (Paul Rudd) FBI parole officer.
“That voice over the airwaves was definitely Jimmy Woo from Ant Man and the Wasp (Randall Park),” wrote one observant fan.
Park’s appearance on the series has already been confirmed, with many fans thinking it will help lead up to the Ant-Man’s with the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly).
The actor is rumoured to appear in the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, so the fan theories could very well be right.
WandaVision viewers got their first glimpse at the S.W.O.R.D organisation where in the same episode Wanda finds a toy helicopter in the hedges of her garden, and its bright red colour stood emblazoned with its logo.
The Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division (S.W.O.R.D) is the MCU’s intelligence agency which deals with extraterrestial threats to the world and is the space-based counterpart to the better S.H.I.E.L.D which focuses on earth based threats.
WandaVision is the first of the Marvel Studios TV chronicles and the beginning to Phase Four of the Cinematic Universe.
It takes place after after Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, where Vision, Ultron and the Mind Stone were killed following Thanos’ finger snap.
It is also is expected to take Wanda Maximoff and Vision through the decades including the 50s, in the style of 1950’s era TV programs.
