Carwyn and Emily turned the ancient horse-drawn lorry into a cosy seaside hideaway which they named – Red Rum – after one of the fastest horse in racing history.

Before beginning the renovations, the 35-foot-long lorry was neglected and stank – but after giving it a makeover it looked much better.

Host, George Clarke was floored when he walked into the stunning home after it had been revamped.

“We took it on as a bit of a project, a place to relax,” Carwyn told George during the episode.

“We’ve renovated the house, the garages, the workshop but haven’t converted a vehicle.”

George said: “There was nothing homely, let’s be honest, there was nothing nice about it. I mean that is quite staggering!”

Everything was decluttered, and the couple made the 300-square-foot farm house look comfortable and homey.

They also installed a small kitchen, a shower, a toilet, a sofa bed, and converted the front section into a bunker bed.

The timber came from “about a dozen really thick pine doors” that Emily had picked up online for free.

“The wooden panels are all doors, even the shelves are made out of the doors,” Emily explained.

Carwyn chimed in: “Other than the lights and the cooker, the fridge and the boiler, everything else is reclaimed.”

In the end Carwyn and Emily decided that it was “all worth it,” even if they spent an additional £3,500 over their original budget.
