Following three years of cancellation, Drake revived the shelved program and took on the role of the show’s executive producer.
What happened to Top Boy season one?
The first season of Top Boy premiered on October 31, 2011, and was broadcasted by Channel 4 in the United Kingdom.
After the conclusion of the second season, Top Boy went off of the air.
Canadian music star, Drake, brought the series back from cancellation and Netflix made Top Boy available to streaming audiences.
However, fans noticed when the first season of Top Boy was missing from Netflix in January of 2022.
Ahead of the season four premiere, Netflix did not issue a statement regarding why they removed the crime drama’s first edition.
When will season 4 of Top Boy premiere?
Top Boy’s third season was released to Netflix on September 13, 2019.
After three years of fan speculation, the crime drama series is set to return on March 18, 2022.
The official Instagram page for the program broke the news on Monday, January 31.
Top Boy’s Instagram page captioned their post: “We know you’ve been asking for the Top Boy date for a while now.”
They continued: “Here you go – on London’s biggest billboard so it can’t be missed. TOP BOY RETURNS MARCH 18.”
In promotion of the March 2022 release date, they also said on Instagram: “LOYALTY BEFORE EVERYTHING. Top Boy returns. March 18.”
Who are the Top Boy cast members?
Top Boy stars Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson in the lead roles.
During a 2021 interview with NME, Walters teased fans on what to expect for the fourth edition of the show.
Walters continued: “We’re coming at it from a new perspective this time, because I’m executive producing on this one, so creatively and script-wise I’m much more involved.”
Top Boy also stars Michael Ward, Jasmine Jobson, Lisa Dwan, Simbi Ajikawo, Elizabeth Tan, among many more.
