What is Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World about?
Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World follows young climate change activist and Time magazine 2019’s person of the year, Greta Thunberg as she travels the world campaigning for awareness.
The Swedish teen, most famously known for her “how dare you” speech, took a year-long break from her studies at school to film the documentary.
Followed by cameramen, Thunberg meets with some of the world’s leading scientists to explore the consequences of global warming and climate change on future generations.
She visits places where climate change is being sped up, including coal mines in Europe and Canada’s growing oil industry, campaigning to political leaders for change.
Episode one of the three part BBC documentary sees Thunberg travelling through North America with her father, Svante, to attend a climate conference in Chile.
Throughout the episode they explore locations nearby, investigating how the environment has changed as a result of hotter temperatures.
The eye-opening series displays the effect of oil production on forests and wildlife, giving viewers a shocking look into the reality of global warming.
The 18-year-old schoolgirl is also seen pleading with viewers and politicians to heed her warnings.
She said: “People say a lot of things about me. People listen when I talk. But I don’t want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to the science.”
“We cannot look away from this crisis anymore.”
