What’s it about?
Roald and Beatrix: The Tail of the Curious Mouse is based on the real life encounter between the two prominent children’s writers.
Roald Dahl is just a boy in this film who’s lost members of his family.
He’s inspired by an older Beatrix Potter who is at the end of her career and is suffering with failing eyesight.
Sky call this film: “A heart-warming Sky original inspired by the true story of when a six-year-old Roald Dahl meets his idol Beatrix Potter.”
Roald Dahl went onto be a revered children’s author, and it is true that Roald looked up to Beatrix in his youth.
In the show, Beatrix invites Roald to explore her fictional world with animals and animations featuring heavily.
Who stars in Roald and Beatrix?
This film is worth watching for the all-star cast alone.
Dawn French, Jessica Hynes, Rob Brydon, Alison Steadman, Nina Sosanya, Bill Bailey and Nick Mohammed are the full adult cast.
Meanwhile Harry Tayler plays the young Roald.
Rob Brydon, who plays Beatrix’s husband, said to BT: “I think it’s a feast for the eyes.
“When you add in the animation, which people perhaps won’t be expecting, like the scene where the mice come alive inside the doll’s house in Roald’s bedroom.”
He added: “When I arrived on set at the location for Beatrix’s farmhouse, they’d transformed it into a Christmas scene and it was absolutely enchanting.
“It was in the countryside in the Vale of Glamorgan which is a lovely area anyway.”
