AN ABANDONED dog unwanted for four years has become Britain’s first explosives search Staffie.
Roxy, five, has used her nose ahead of big events including Princess Beatrice’s wedding and Prince Philip’s funeral.
She was rescued by RSPCA officers in 2017 and housed in West Hatch Animal Centre, Somerset.
And while German shepherds, labradors and spaniels are more common cop dogs, Hampshire and Thames Valley Police specialist search unit has taken her on.
And Roxy and handler PC Camilla Carter completed their training last year.
PC Carter said: “I’m incredibly proud of her for doing such an important job.
“I’m sure she was born to do this; I couldn’t imagine her doing anything else.
“Roxy is a superstar. She is intelligent, very systematic and thorough.
“I love working by her side, she’s my crew mate and we have each other’s backs.”
