Alicia Keys reveals incredible behind the scenes secret about performing in front of the Queen

ALICIA Keys has let slip an amazing backstage secret from her performance at the Queen’s Party At The Palace.

The US singer, 41, took to the stage on Saturday night alongside a host of famous musicians to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

And in an incredible bombshell, Alicia has revealed that the Queen chose her entire set list – including Alicia and Jay-Z’s 2009 hit Empire State Of Mind.

Taking to Instagram, Alicia has shared a montage of her time at Buckingham Palace with her 23.6million followers.

Captioning the post, she wrote: “Epic night at the jubilee!!

“Celebrating the Queen and all the Queens!!!!!

.”

Alicia also added the lyrics to her song Girl On Fire: “She’s got her feet on the ground and she’s burning it down!”

She then let slip: “FYI: Every song was requested personally by the Queen. Even EMPIRE!! Big lovvveeee!!!!!”

In some backstage footage, Alicia can be seen riding in a golf buggy alongside her two sons, Egypt, 11, and seven-year-old Genesis.

She says to the camera: “I’m telling the boys that the Queen requested the songs that I’m singing. And they were like, ‘You can’t refuse the Queen!’

Egypt then pipes up: “You can’t refuse the Queen – it’s against the law in Europe!”

The American schoolboy can also be seen having a try at conducting the 70-piece orchestra that accompanied the artists at the concert.

Fans have been left stunned by Alicia’s news, with one exclaiming: “The fact that the Queen requested Empire is Epic!!”

Another commented: “Wow, I am speechless. And you’re still so humble.”

And a third said: “So amazing that your kids get to witness their momma’s greatness!”

Alicia’s revelation comes as Rod Stewart’s wife, Penny Lancaster, also told Loose Women viewers that he did not have full control of his set list.

“The BBC said, ‘Rod, we need you to sing Sweet Caroline, it’s the Queen’s favourite’,” Penny told the panel during Wednesday’s show.
