Cadbury launches Willy Wonka-style contest – with 250 pairs of tickets for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant up for grabs

CADBURY has launched a Willy Wonka-style contest, offering 250 pairs of tickets to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

The chocolate company is offering members of the public the “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity to honour the Queen’s 70-year reign.

Her Majesty is celebrating 70 years on the throne

It will give away 500 tickets to “experience first-hand the majesty of the pageant” down the Mall in London, reminiscent of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the famous golden tickets.

The tickets will be offered separately through the Cadbury Jubilee website, in a free-to-enter competition.

Limited-edition versions of Cadbury’s most-loved products will also be put on sale, with Platinum Jubilee tins of Roses and a special Dairy Milk bar carrying the emblem.

The distinctive purple packaging of the chocolate bar matches the Jubilee branding and sees a glass of milk pouring down into the words “Celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee”.

It will be offered at a recommended retail price of £4.23.

The tin of Roses includes an image of a large crown on the lid, costs £6.59 and carries the dates of the Queen’s reign so far: 1952-2022.

The chocolate adds to a growing list of Platinum Jubilee merchandise, from tea towels to official Buckingham Palace-endorsed champagne glasses.

They will be sold from May in the lead-up to the bank holiday weekend from June 2 to 5.

It comes as Brits are braced for a huge four-day Bank Holiday weekend this summer as the Queen marks her Platinum Jubilee.

The four-day bonanza, which falls on the first weekend of June, is set to be bursting with treats from Her Majesty.

A huge national pudding competition will make up some of the celebrations, while thousands of jubilee lunches will be held to honour Britain’s longest ever reigning monarch.

The May Bank Holiday Weekend – which usually falls at the end of the month – will be moved to Thursday June 2 to fit in festivities.

And the weekend will be extended with an extra day off on Friday, June 3.

Buckingham Palace said the extra long weekend will provide “an opportunity for communities throughout the United Kingdom to come together and celebrate the historic milestone”.

It added in a statement: “The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

“In addition, initiatives including The Queen’s Green Canopy and the Platinum Pudding competition will create a lasting reminder of The Queen’s Jubilee, while The Queen’s private estates will also join in with special Jubilee themed events offering more opportunities for members of the public to celebrate the historic milestone.”
