Euromillions-winner builder who scooped £105million set to net another £90million with ‘Mr Sensible’ money-making scheme

MILLIONAIRE Lotto builder Steve Thomson has been dubbed “Mr Sensible” by pals after investing a chunk of his £105million win with the Queen’s bank.

The former white van man and wife Lenka put “tens of millions” into a trust with Her Majesty’s favoured firm Coutts & Co following his 2019 EuroMillions win.

The couple hit the jackpot in November, 2019

A £30million investment could see the Thomsons bag a staggering £90million over the next 20 years – almost as much as their original win.

The millions of pounds invested in the couple’s two separate trusts are invested in stocks, shares and property.

Friends have dubbed Steve, originally from Selsey, West Sussex, “Mr Sensible” for not squandering his lottery cash unlike some infamous winners.

It came after The Celeb Report revealed how modest Steve finally splashed out £4.5million a new home after taking more than a year to leave his £150,000 council house.

Steve and Lenka were living in a three-bed terraced house in Selsey, West Sussex, with their three children when they won the jackpot.

After the windfall they spent out on was a secondhand VW van for Steve and a Volvo XC90 for Slovakian Lenka.

Steve even carried on working to complete outstanding orders for his windows and conservatories business.

Kindhearted Steve also gave away £200,000 to help his local community, donating £100,000 to his beloved cricket club in Selsey, West Sussex, for a new pavilion.

And he gave £50,000 to Selsey Medical Centre to fund new equipment, so locals do not have to travel miles for appointments plus £50,000 to his two sons’ school.

The trusts, registered earlier this year, typically set aside vast fortunes for children and grandchildren to benefit from.

Only trustees Steve and Lenka, can say what the money can be spent on when their three young children claim it.

A friend said: “The truth is there has been massive pressure on Steve and Lenka since their amazing win.

“Dealing with that sort of money and planning for not only your children’s future, but generations to come, is a hard task.

“Steve is Mr Sensible and determined he doesn’t end up like Michael Carroll, skint and broken.”

The month after his life-changing win in November, 2019, the dad-of-three returned to work lugging boxes.

But in April, Steve revealed he’d moved to a sprawling £4.5million estate complete with tennis courts and swimming pool – where he plans to do all the DIY himself.

Steve’s new £4.5million estate is set in 14.5 acres of countryside

The country pile is set in 14.5 acres and has a swimming pool, tennis court and party barn.

The imposing 7,000 sq ft farmhouse — with two kitchens, six bedrooms, five reception rooms and a games room — is seven times the size of the average UK property.

There are also two lakes, a pond, landscaped gardens and stables.

Neighbours of the estate in Kent bought from an IT tycoon, include rock stars and Hollywood actors.

Steve admitted at the time that the mammoth EuroMillions win was still sinking in.

And to keep his feet on the ground the former conservatory fitter says he will work on his new pile himself.

He said: “I still haven’t got over what happened to us and am honestly still trying to process it still.

“It feels like yesterday we were in our old lives — it will take a little while to adjust.

“We are very lucky to be in this place but there’s a lot of work that needs doing, so I’ll be focusing on that for the time being.”
