A REDHEAD has told how bullies making fun of her ginger hair provided the inspiration for her successful business.
Courtney Grimshaw, 28, hated the cruel taunts aimed at her during her school days and didn’t understand why she was targeted for something so silly.
Courtney named her company after her hair colour
She’s never understood why people make fun of ginger hair
But now people pay to have her look as adults
But it only fuelled her resolve and now she has her own firm appropriately named Ginger Red Social Media.
The businesswoman, based in Bothwell, Glasgow, says: “I’m a natural redhead, I was bullied at school for being ginger and got called names throughout my full childhood for being ginger.
“As only two per cent of the population is ginger, it’s fair to say it’s pretty rare and people just love making fun of you.
“My business is Ginger Red Social Media and I am the life and soul (and face) of the business, and I’m delighted to have have named it after my ginger hair.
“What’s better than naming your business after something that’s helped you build resilience and grit throughout your childhood?
“Our goals are to help small businesses stand out from the crowd, just like a redhead does.”
One thing that Courtney finds interesting is that many adults with they has red hair.
Rather than being mocked like in childhood, it becomes a very popular look later on in life.
The model and actor, represented by Glasgow-based All Talent Agency, adds: “Times have changed and as adults in this society we love redheads – women want to dye their hair ginger and ask for ginger hair in the salon, and men want to date ginger girlies.
“Disney princesses are ginger and Prince Harry is a ginger, maybe that’s where the attraction has come from?
“Either way, ginger hair is here to stay and it’s a very unique and considered on trend now due to the influx of ginger celebrities and influencers.
“Maybe it’s because it’s a bit of a niche that people are interested in having it, something unusual and different to everyone else.”
