If unveiling Diana’s memorial statue doesn’t bring William & Harry together, nothing will, claims royal expert

A ROYAL expert has stated that if “unveiling Princess Diana’s memorial statue this summer doesn’t bring Prince Harry and Prince William together then nothing will”.

The statue will be unveiled on what would have been the 60th birthday of Princess Diana, who died in 1997.

A royal expert has said that if Diana’s memorial statue doesn’t bring William and Harry together, ‘nothing will’

Harry, 36, will stand with his brother, 38, when the Diana memorial is revealed in July – despite rumours of a rift following Megxit and the Sussexes bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry claimed William is “trapped” in the royal family.

Royal author Duncan Larcombe told Fabulous: “The plan for the Diana statue, William and Harry hatched up in happier times. I think it goes back three plus years.

“If that statue unveiling doesn’t bring them together, nothing will.

“When the boys were sitting down hatching that plan, it would be utterly unthinkable to both of them that they’d have a falling out and it would make things awkward.

“This statue may cement the fact that the boys are no longer an effective unit together.”

Princes Harry and William will give separate speeches when their mum’s statue is unveiled — highlighting their ongoing rift.

In a sign their feud has yet to heal, there will be no joint address.

The Kensington Palace ceremony is a long-term project between the brothers, who fell out over Harry’s decision to quit as a working royal.

Hopes of improved relations were raised after they chatted at Prince Philip’s funeral last month.

A source said: “They will both move heaven and earth to be there. They commissioned the statue together. It is very important for them.

“There is, of course, hope the memory of Diana can repair their relationship but that seems a long way off right now.

“The brothers will be physically together for the ceremony but want to make their own personal addresses.

“You might have thought they’d go for a joint statement and speech but that’s not the case. “Each has insisted on preparing their own.

“It is a big concern that their body language will suggest all is not well and they won’t present a united front.”

Harry’s pregnant wife Meghan, 39, is expected to stay in the US. The Queen is also unlikely to go.

Another source said: “She feels this is William and Harry’s event and would not want to overshadow them.”

Kensington Palace did not comment.
