When she moved into the home almost a decade ago, Ten chose a dark brown colour for all of the kitchen cabinets and faded grey counter tops.

But since then she decided she’d rather have something brighter and lighter, so decided to fix it up herself.

Originally, the mum wanted to transform the kitchen to a light shade of grey, but decide to go for white instead in bid to make the room appear bigger.

To begin the transformation, Ten used furniture and cupboard paint from Wilko in the shade white satin, which cost £20.

“I didn’t buy any primer, apparently you don’t need any with this paint,” she explained.

After just two coats of the bargain paint the cupboards look brand new again.

It was then time to tackle the white tiles in the kitchen – Ten used a grout pen to turn the stained white grout a more modern dark grey colour.

The pen only cost £3.99 from Amazon and was really easy to use.

“It just basically covers the grout if you have discolouring or if you grout is dingy or dirty, or if you just want to change the colour you can use this pen,” she said.

To bring some new lift to her faded counters, the DIY whizz used marble patterned contact paper, making sure to measure it out carefully before sticking it down.

“I purchased three rolls from B&Q, I think I only used two and a half, but I did make a mistake on one so there was a little bit wasted,” the mum said.

Once the worktops were finished the entire kitchen looked so much more modern and stylish.

Ten raved: “I absolutely love it.”

After sharing the transformation on YouTube other DIY fans were equally impressed with the budget renovation.

One said: “You have giving me some hope as I’m a single mum and I don’t get much money but now I can see I can make my home nice on a budget, I love the tiles. Well I love it all you done amazing.”

And a second wrote: “Really well done. You made a great transformation at such a low cost. You also did a very good job.”
