ARE you constantly throwing away stale bread and other food products that have gone just slightly past their sell-by date?
Now you don’t have to, thanks to a recipe from social media star Duchess of Thrift that shows how to make the most of your leftovers – and save you money in the long run.
The Duchess of Thrift has shared her simple recipe
TikTok user Duchess of Thrift uploaded a video explaining how she’s started to use her food waste to make tasty pizza toasties for lunch.
She showed how the simple recipe works a treat every time and that the ingredient list includes just four food items.
The Duchess of Thrift explained: “I’m just using up some leftovers here.
“I’ve got the last four stale bagels, the last four slices of salami that were in a pack – they were out of date yesterday but it’s smoked meat so it will be fine.”
“Then I’ve got a bit of cheese, it’s the end of the block. And some tomato puree which cost 30p.”
Holding the bagels up to the camera, she continued: “These would go in the bin really because they’ve gone hard and stale, but I’m going to make these mini pizzas.
The social media user, who can be found at @duchessofthrift, then went through the ridiculously easy recipe.
First, she placed the sliced bagels inside a toastie maker, and then she spread some of the tomato puree directly onto the bread.
She then added the salami, making sure it covered the hole in the bagel.
The next step was to cover the salami in grated cheese, as well as some oregano for seasoning.

The Duchess of Thrift then closed the lid of the sandwich maker and cooked them for 1-2 minutes until the cheese was all melted.
The result? A delicious lunch or snack that she described as “cheap and cheerful.”
