BRITNEY Spears enjoyed an email romance with Prince William back in her pop heyday – yet the messages never amounted to anything.
The Lucky singer, 40, previously opened up on exchanging messages with King Charles‘ eldest son, also 40, during the early 2000s.

The Lucky singer, now 40, was aged 20 when she started chatting to Prince Charles’ son online
She told UK TV show host Frank Skinner back in 2002 of their blossoming friendship.
Britney, then aged 20, said: “We exchanged e-mails for a little bit and he was supposed to come and see me somewhere but it didn’t work out.”
The host then quizzed: “You were blown out by Prince William?” before she agreed: “Yeah.”
At the time, The Celeb Report reported the prince had chosen to go fox hunting instead.

Meanwhile, royal biographer Christopher Andersen previously shared details of Britney and William’s online chats.
In his book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan, he told how they “tried to get together back when they were young.”
He wrote: “There may have been phone conversations, but I don’t recall that they ever actually managed to get together during that period.”
The pair were single at the time, with Britney going on to date fellow popstar and Mickey Mouse Club alumni Justin Timberlake.
William meanwhile met Kate Middleton, the now Duchess of Cambridge, in 2003.
The pari married in April 2011.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding took place at Westminster Abbey, with 1,900 guests.
Kate and Wills had their fair share of celebrities watching the nuptials, such as the Beckhams, Sir Elton John and the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson.
The wedding came a decade after the pair met, with Wills and Kate having first crossed paths back at St Andrews University in 2001.
The royal pair got on like a house on fire during their student days, and coupled up in 2003.
Tragically, William’s grandmother the Queen passed away aged 96 last week.
Kate and William adopted new titles after the longest-serving monarch’s passing, while in an emotional statement, Prince William praised the Queen for the 20 years of “guidance and support” she has given his wife Kate Middleton.
