KATE and William have had an explosive 24 hours including being “blindsided” by Meghan and Harry.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have endured everything from racism within the Royal Family to the release of Meghan and Harry‘s documentary trailer.
Prince William and Princess Kate have had an explosive 24 hours – here’s a breakdown
It started with racist royal accusations, which saw Lady Susan Hussey, Wills’ godmother, stand down
Then Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s documentary trailer was released – seeing them dubbed ‘the Kardashians’
And, this all unfolded while Wills and Kate were set to be enjoying their first trip to the US since 2014.
Here’s how it unfolded:
WEDNESDAY – November 30
7.25am – Wills and Kate were set to jet off to the US when accusations of royal racism surfaced on Twitter.
The tweet detailed a conversation Ngozi Fulani, from domestic abuse charity Sistah Space, said she’d had with “Lady SH” at a royal reception.
It included the royal, asking Ngozi “where are you really from?”
12.30pm – Within a matter of hours Buckingham Palace had apologised and said the royal had resigned.
The palace said “unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made”, and that the woman concerned would like to “express her profound apologies”.
Just minutes later it was confirmed that woman was Lady Susan Hussey, the late Queen‘s pal and William’s godmother.
3.40pm – William, who is said to have always been firmly against racism, and his team release a statement.
Kensington Palace said the ordeal was “really disappointing” and that is was “right” Lady Susan Hussey had stepped down.
6pm – Nazir Afzal, former chief crown prosecutor for the North West, claims he was also questioned about his heritage at the event.
8pm – Kate and Wills finally land in Boston.
The pair were snapped smiling away at the basketball, but a language expert claimed Wills appeared tense, and Kate was supporting him.
THURSDAY – December 1
12.07pm – Meghan and Harry’s explosive documentary trailer is released.
It teased the details of what the couple would share, including Harry saying: “Nobody sees what’s happening behind closed doors.”
The MailOnline claimed William and Kate would have been “blindsided” by the release.
This saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex apparently dubbed “the Kardashians” by some sources close to Kate and Wills.
One source told The Times that was because “they want all the attention they can possibly get”.
3.50pm – The Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted out and about for the first time since the trailer release.
They were smiling ear-to-ear and happily waved to crowds in Boston, who were overjoyed to see them.
WHAT NOW?
Former royal correspondent Michael Cole said this morning it was obvious the brothers were at war, and that Princess Diana would be disappointed.
He told Good Morning Britain: “It’s either terrible timing or it’s terrific timing depending on whether you are team Wales or team Sussex.
“But, anybody in the real world, nobody can deny that there’s a battle royal going on between the brothers.
“You know one of the most terrible things you’ll see ever, anywhere, is brothers fighting.
“And I just think back to their dear darling mother, still much missed, Princess Diana, how upset she would be to see her boys at logger heads.
“She always thought they would be there for each other. And that clearly is not the case.
“We can detect the hand of Netflix in this. They’ve invested millions of pounds, millions of dollars in this.”
Ngozi Fulani’s claims against Lady Susan arose on Wednesday morning
Lawyer Nazir Afzal then claimed Lady Susan had questioned him on his background
This all came just hours before Wills and Kate were due to land in the US – and a royal expert claimed the prince was ‘tense’ on arrival
But the couple were sure to get out and meet fans in Boston – and were all smiles
