KATE Middleton and Prince William are sleeping in separate beds on the UK Royal Train Tour, according to reports.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will travel 1,250 miles on the Royal Train in a three-day tour to thank people for their efforts during the Covid pandemic.
The couple will be using the royal train, reserved for the Queen and other senior members of the royal family, to travel during the tour.
And the journey will see Kate and William sleep in separate beds on the train as their suite has “his and hers” single beds rather than a double.
This may be reflective of the fact that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh prefer to sleep separately.
According to Lady Pamela Hicks – Philip’s cousin – the upper class “always have separate bedrooms”.
The couple’s suite has his and hers single beds, a private bathtub, and a 12-seat “dining room” – complete with a Formica table.
There are no showers on board, only a bath with a line around the inside to stop it from being over-filled.
A steward, footmen and Kate’s hairdresser will join the couple on the trip.
Food on past trips has included minted pea soup, sole fillets and creme caramel.
The nine carriages are decorated in 23-carat gold paint with silks and satins, after Queen Victoria designed the train to look like a palace.
There is also a room on board for royals to catch up on work.
Aides say they plan to pass on the nation’s “sincere thanks and gratitude” for their efforts.
Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess are very much looking forward to shining a spotlight on the incredible work that has been done.”
