Kate had her second Covid-19 jab within five weeks of her first dose.

Kensington Palace said the Duchess of Cambridge took advice from doctors before getting the second jab after five weeks.

The palace revealed Kate, 39, had the first dose on Friday May 28 but confirmed she had received her second jab some time before last Friday July 2 – a gap of less than five weeks.

She was due to join Prince William in marking the 73rd anniversary of the NHS today but will have to miss out.

The royal was also meant to be hosting a tea party at Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to NHS staff who have worked tirelessly during the pandemic.

Prince William is not isolating and will still attend both events.

A Palace spokesperson said: “Last week The Duchess of Cambridge came into contact with someone who has subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.

“Her Royal Highness is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home.”

COVID ALERT

She will have to isolate for ten days but it is not clear when the quarantine period started.

Kate had been pictured watching the tennis at Wimbledon on Friday afternoon in the Royal Box.

She also attended the England v Germany game at Wembley with William and Prince George on Tuesday.

It is not known if she would have been in the stands for the Three Lions’ historic semi-final on Wednesday against Denmark.

The keen tennis fan and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club is now also likely to miss the Men’s and Women’s final at the weekend.

Kate was due to join William at two major events marking the NHS’ birthday today.

They had planned to attend a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral in their roles as Joint Patrons of NHS Charities Together.

The congregation will include NHS England chief executive Sir Simon Stevens and Boris Johnson.

William and Kate were also planning to host the NHS Big Tea in the gardens of Buckingham Palace with staff including respiratory ward nurses, counsellors and care workers.
