KATE Middleton “didn’t have the energy” to bond with Meghan Markle before the royal wedding, a royal author has claimed.
Biographer Andrew Morton claimed that Kate was exhausted in the run up to the Sussexes’ royal wedding due to her being pregnant with third child Prince Louis.
Kate and William announced they were expecting Louis in September 2017, two months before Meghan and Harry revealed they were engaged.
In his unauthorised biography, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, Andrew claims Kate being pregnant for the majority of Meghan’s wedding preparations got in the way of a friendship developing.
He said: “Kate and Meghan were neither sisters nor, unlike Fergie and Diana, friends before they joined the Royal Family.
“What is more, during the build-up to Meghan’s wedding, Kate was experiencing her third difficult pregnancy and was focused on her own welfare. She did not have much energy to bond with her new neighbour.
“When they sat together in the royal box to watch the Ladies’ Singles Final at Wimbledon in July 2018, the two women were still getting to know one another.”

Kate gave birth to Louis on April 23, 2018, just weeks before the Sussexes’ much-awaited nuptials on May 19, 2018.
Andrew claimed that there was “little opportunity” for Meghan and Kate to gain a true friendship away from the public eye.
He added: “It was a practical matter as much as anything. Kate spent weekends and holidays at Anmer Hall, the Cambridges’ country home in Norfolk, while Meghan and Harry were approximately three hours’ drive away, living in a large, remote, rented property on the Great Tew estate in Oxfordshire.
“Harry’s dream of two united happy families seemed a long way off.”
Six months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ 2018 wedding, reports emerged that there had been an incident between Kate and Meghan over a fitting for the bridesmaid dresses.
Meghan sensationally claimed during her Oprah Winfrey interview that it was Kate who made her cry after they allegedly rowed over the dress – not the other way round.
Princess Charlotte had been chosen to be among Meghan’s six bridesmaids for her nuptials.

The Duchess of Sussex claimed in her Oprah Winfrey interview she was the one left in tears – saying Kate had been “upset about something” over the flower girl dresses in the lead up to the Royal Wedding.
And while Meghan said she had forgiven Kate, The Times claimed Kate slammed the door in her sister-in-law’s face when she took flowers to Nottingham Cottage – Meghan and Harry’s home at the time.
During the interview with Oprah, Meghan said that Kate was a “good person”.
But she said she had struggled after reports of the incident surfaced several months after the wedding – saying it had been a “turning point”.
The sisters-in-law attended the Wimbledon women’s final in July 2019, and were famously pictured laughing together in the royal box during Serena Williams’ showdown with Simona Halep.
Referencing the Wimbledon trip, Oprah asked: “Was it what it looks like? You are two sisters-in-law out there in the world, getting to know each other.
“Was she helping you, embracing you into the family, helping you adjust?”
Appearing to dodge the question, Meghan replied: “My understanding and my experience for the past four years is that it’s nothing like what it looks like.”
