Kate Middleton shows off her muscles as she splits wood on Denmark forest school visit to encourage kids to get outside

KATE Middleton showed off her muscles as she split wood on a visit to a Denmark forest school today.

The Duchess of Cambridge beamed as she swung a hammer at the block three times before it split in half – prompting cheers from watching kids and their teachers.

Bashful Kate laughed after the wood failed to chop on her second go, exclaiming: “Oh no, three times!”

Other footage from the royal’s visit showed the duchess running through the forest while holding hands with an ecstatic youngster.

Kate is on a whistle stop fact-finding trip to learn how Denmark has become a world leader in early childhood development.

In today’s trip to a Forest Nursery, Kate heard about the school’s approach to learning – which focuses on social and emotional development – and discussed the role of nature in education.

The outdoors is widely recognised as having huge benefits for children’s mental health and wellbeing, and is something Kate has championed through her own work.

Her two-day visit to Denmark is also paying tribute to the historic ties Britain shares with the country.

And it celebrates the countries’ joint jubilees – the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the Golden Jubilee of Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II, both of which fall in 2022.

Denmark’s monarch will greet her guest later, along with her daughter-in-law, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, at Christian IX’s Palace in Copenhagen.

Kate and Mary, who have met a number of times in the UK and Denmark, will also visit the Danner Crisis Centre.

The shelter helps women and children who have been exposed to domestic violence and is supported by the Mary Foundation, founded by the Crown Princess in 2007.

Today was the second day of the royal’s tour.

The first saw her whizz down a slide in Copenhagen – before joking she was “broody” for another baby.

The Duchess of Cambridge laughed as she pushed herself down the twirly slide at the Lego PlayLab on Tuesday.

Emerging from the slide, the playful duchess said: “In the spirit of where I am, I had to do it.”

And after chatting to parents with their babies at Copenhagen’s Children’s Museum, she confessed: “It makes me very broody.

“William always worries about me meeting under one-year-olds. I come home saying, ‘let’s have another one’.”

She travelled by a scheduled flight to Copenhagen but it is thought her plane was delayed by around 30 minutes.

The duchess looked the picture of elegance as she arrived in Denmark in the scarlet Zara number and white blouse – a nod to the Danish flag.
