KATE Middleton is set to hold off on any big 40th birthday celebrations this weekend in order to have a joint celebration with Prince William in the summer, it has been reported.
The Duchess of Cambridge turns 40 on Sunday – but is understood to be ditching any party plans amid the rise in Covid cases.
Her special day comes just a few months before the Queen is expected to throw William a bash for his own 40th in June, with Windsor Castle or Sandringham among possible venue options.
And it’s believed Kate, who will reportedly “celebrate privately with her family” this weekend, could join him centre stage.
Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told the Mirror: “The Queen is tremendously fond of enjoying such occasions and this would be no different.
“There’s a lot to look forward to in her Platinum Jubilee year, and with both William and Kate turning 40 it’s an extra excuse to celebrate.
“This is a pretty big one for the Cambridges so it should be quite the party.”
Wills has had joint birthdays in the past, sharing his 18th with Prince Andrew’s 40th, Princess Anne’s 50th and Princess Margaret’s 70th.
The huge do was held at Windsor Castle in the summer of 2000 – and has set the bar high for the Cambridges to follow.
Until then, it’s believed Kate will quietly mark her 40th with loved ones -and will undoubtedly be joined by Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, playing their part.
A source told The Mirror: “It’s very much a scaled-down occasion this year for the Duchess, who will celebrate privately with her family.
“Of course she is mindful of the current situation. She will be surrounded by loved-ones and that’s all that matters.”
It comes after Kate marked her 39th birthday in lockdown last year, celebrating with her family at their home in Norfolk, as the nation was once again told to stay at home.
In a message thanking fans for their kind well wishes, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official social media account said at the time: “Thank you for your kind wishes on The Duchess’ birthday.
“Birthdays have been very different in recent months, and our thoughts continue to be with all those working on the front line at this hugely challenging time.”
