Librarian’s cat dresses up as characters from Games of Thrones and Indiana Jones to boost reading

HORATIO the cat loves going by the book — getting dressed up in a library to encourage reading.

Owner Lisa Shaffer makes him costumes of famous folk, including the Queen and Game of Thrones’ Daenerys.

The library in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, has since gained thousands of online fans.

Every Saturday (aka #caturday) the library posts a picture of Horatio’s latest get-up.

Horatio also receives a wage for his troubles – a cat treat when he dresses up and when he completes a photoshoot.

For those who want to costume their own cat, Lisa advises them to “start out small” with a collar, small scarves or hats, before moving on to more elaborate costumes.

Thanks to Horatio’s fancy dress exploits, the library has gained thousands of followers on its Instagram @centrecountylibrary.
