Martin Luther King Jr Day: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry thank veterans for service as they donate lunch to volunteers

THERE’S nothing like some free lunch from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a page from Martin Luther King Jr. and gave a “small token” of their appreciation to the veterans-led organization The Mission Continues in Lousiana.

“In honour of this day of service, and in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all that he stood for, we want to send our thanks and gratitude to the team at The Mission Continues,” a note sent by Harry and Meghan to the organization.

“We’re so proud of all the work you’re doing to support your community and hope you enjoy this small token of our appreciation,” the letter read.

“Thank you for your service – today and every day. we look forward to joining you soon!”

Signing the letter Harry and Meghan, their Archewell Foundation then donated lunch from Homegirl Catering, a subsect of Homeboy Industries.

The Mission Continues shared the note along with photos of their members standing alongside the lunches on Instagram.

“We’d like to send a huge thank you to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with Archewell Foundation, for fueling the volunteers of our LA Service Platoon with lunch yesterday,” the Instagram caption read.

“So they can continue their hard work at the Compton VFW and help those living in the Compton community! We’re truly honored to have their support! #MLKDayON.”

The Duke and Duchess were set to meet with the Queen to discuss how their year away from their roles as working royals was going.

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Harry and Meghan might likely forgo the meeting to discuss their year away from duties, dubbed “Megxit.”

Martin Luther King Jr. Day often boasts the highest number of volunteering hours of any calendar day of the year.
