Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sent congratulations from Ellen DeGeneres and celeb pals after welcoming baby Lilibet

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry received congratulations from Ellen DeGeneres and other celebrity pals after announcing the birth of their daughter Lilibet Diana on Sunday.

The royal couple announced that their second child was born on Friday as they revealed her special name, giving tribute to both her grandmother and great-grandmother.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the birth of their daughter on Sunday

Ellen DeGeneres was among the first to congratulate the couple

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex received a flood of well-wishes as the news was announced.

“Congratulations Meghan, Harry and Archie,” wrote Ellen DeGeneres in a tweet.

“Welcome to the world Lilibet! I am more than a Lilibet excited to meet you.”

Star Trek actor William Shatner also tweeted his good wishes.

“Congratulations to Prince Harry & Meghan on the birth of their daughter,” he wrote.

The photographer who took the photos Meghan and Harry used to announce their second pregnancy also congratulated his “brave friend.”

“Lilibet has arrived! Congratulations to my brave friend and her lovely family! #allthatmatters #babyjoy,” wrote Misan Harriman.

The couple were also congratulated by the US embassy in London which noted it is “just in time for Father’s Day.”

“Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the arrival of their daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor!” it wrote.

Other friends of the couple have not yet commented on the news with good pal Serena Williams also crashing out of the French Open on Sunday afternoon.

However, Prince Harry’s family immediately issued statements welcoming the new addition to the royals.

Her Majesty and the royals tonight they were “delighted” at the news and made a touching tribute to the couple and their baby girl – who has been named in the Queen’s honour.

Prince William and Kate Middleton also said that they have been told the happy news- and are delighted for Meghan and Harry.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tweeted this evening: “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili.

“Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.”

And Prince Charles and Camilla also wrote: “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of baby Lilibet Diana

“Wishing them all well at this special time.”

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor shares the nickname Prince Philip called his wife the Queen for more than 70 years — while the middle name is a tribute to Harry’s mum.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, gave birth at 11.40am local time on Friday at a hospital ten minutes’ drive from their $14million mansion in Montecito, California.

The baby weighed in at 7lbs 1oz.

In a statement released last night Harry and Meghan, who have a two-year-old son Archie, said: “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.

“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.

“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

A spokesman said mum and baby were “healthy and well.”
