It comes in stark contrast to Kate’s 38th birthday, which was said to be “ruined” by Meghan and Harry’s decision to step down as senior royals.

Royal author Phil Dampier said that Kate’s special day has undoubtedly been ruined by Meghan and Harry’s news.

He told Fabulous Digital: “Apart from anything else Harry and Meghan’s announcement has overshadowed Kate’s 38th birthday.”

Kate is believed to be with her family at their Norfolk home of Anmer Hall on her 39th birthday, where the Cambridges spent Christmas after the Queen decided to have a quiet festive period at Windsor Castle.
