Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Welcome New Addition to Their £12m Mansion: Ellen DeGeneres' Former Pet

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have expanded their family with the adoption of a new chicken for their coop at their £12 million mansion. The rescue chicken, named 'Sinkie', previously belonged to former chat show host Ellen DeGeneres but had to be re-homed due to bullying from other chickens. Sinkie's leg has been fixed, and she now resides in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's chicken coop in Montecito, Santa Barbara.

A Royal Chicken

Ellen DeGeneres took to Instagram to announce Sinkie's adoption by Meghan and Harry, stating that their coop had room for one more. Sinkie's royal title is yet to be determined.

A Close Neighborhood

The chicken won't have to travel far to her new home, as Ellen lives just a five-minute drive away from Meghan and Harry's mansion.

A Well-Loved Bird

Ellen had previously shared updates on Sinkie, who had suffered a broken fibula bone before Christmas. She and her wife, Portia de Rossi, named the bird Sinkie because of her fondness for an old stone sink in their garden. The name was chosen by actor Steve Carell, a friend of Ellen's.

Living Authentically

Meghan and Harry have previously given Oprah Winfrey a tour of their rescue chicken coop, as part of their commitment to "live authentically." The coop includes a red hen house named "Archie's Chick Inn." The chickens were rescued from a nearby factory farm.

Fans React

Ellen's fans were quick to comment on Meghan and Harry adopting Sinkie, suggesting royal titles such as "HRH Sinkie" and "Lady Sinkington." Fans also predicted that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would spoil the lucky chicken.

A Lavish Mansion

Meghan and Harry's Montecito mansion is valued at £11.93 million and includes nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a library, office, spa, gym, game room, wine cellar, and a five-car garage. The estate spans 5.4 acres and features beautiful gardens, a tennis court, tea house, children's cottage, and a pool. The couple has shared glimpses of their minimalist living spaces with fans.

A Love for Animals

In addition to chickens, Meghan has previously adopted several dogs, including a beagle named Mamma Mia, a beagle called Guy, a labrador-shepherd mix named Bogart, and a black Labrador named Pula, which she shares with Prince Harry.
