MEGHAN Markle has written a children’s book about the bond between a father and son, which is inspired by Prince Harry and their son Archie.
But royal expert Duncan Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, says the Duchess‘ first priority should be mending the broken relationships with royals, not turning her hand to kids’ stories.

A picture of the children’s read, titled The Bench, was posted online today ahead of its publication on June 8 – with the mum-of-one signing off with “Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex”.
The book is a step up from the poem Meghan wrote for Harry’s first Father’s Day from Archie, with the Duchess admitting “that poem became this story.”
But royal expert Duncan told Fabulous that the release of her first book “simply shows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have got their priorities all wrong.”
He told Fabulous: “Her first book might not set the literary world on fire but it’s release will do little to dampen the flames still burning after Meghan’s Oprah betrayal. “
Meghan and Harry sat down with American talk show host Oprah Winfrey in a tell-all interview in March this year.
But the in-depth conversation did very little to mend already broken relationships with the royal family who remain “hurt” by the move.
The Duke of Sussex saw his family for the first time since the bombshell interview at Prince Philip’s funeral last month, but he did not leave the UK on good terms with his father or his brother William.
Duncan continued: “With relations between Harry and William at a ‘sensitive stage’ since last month’s funeral reunion, news the children’s book will hit the shelves in June won’t go down well with the Palace,”
“It seems Meghan and Harry are ploughing on regardless, snapping up as many mega-bucks deals as if they feared the shine might wear off their new found status in Tinseltown.
“The Royals could be forgiven for seeing this as nothing more than the latest twist in what is already the biggest sell-out in the family’s history.”
Duncan said that while Meghan is “as entitled as anyone to pen a vanity tale to read to her children,” the timing could have been better.
“Releasing it now shows a total disregard for what should be Harry and Meghan’s first priority,” he explained, which is “mending broken relationships with their nearest and dearest.”
He also made note of the couple’s move to America in search of a “quiet life away from the Royal goldfish bowl,” but said they have “ruthlessly followed ambition” with various projects.
Her book is the latest project in a long list of work for the couple since they moved to the US.
They signed a £75million Netflix deal and a megabucks deal with Spotify with a docuseries now planned about the Invictus Games.
The Bench, which is published by Random House Children’s Books, was illustrated by award-winning artist Christian Robinson and its cover shows a bench under a tree surrounded by birds.
Meghan said of the tale: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story.
“Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life.
“This representation was particularly important to me and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.
“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the make up, as much as it does with me.”
Meghan previously wrote a lifestyle blog, The Tig, before marrying into the royal family.
She also penned a piece for Time magazine but this is the first time she has tried her hand at a book.
The former actress has also experienced voiceover work though narrating Disney documentary Elephant after stepping down as a senior royal.
