Meghan Markle's Unfortunate Christmas Gift for Prince Harry

Archie's Mishap

Meghan Markle once bought Prince Harry an unusual Christmas present – an ornament of Queen Elizabeth II for their tree. However, their son Archie, who was 18 months old at the time, accidentally destroyed it.

A Comical Gift

In his memoir, Prince Harry revealed that he received the comical gift in 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to open presents on Christmas Eve, following the Windsor family tradition. Among the gifts was a little Christmas ornament of the Queen, which Meghan had spotted in a local store and thought Harry might like.

Archie's Accident

Unfortunately, the ornament didn't last long in the family's Californian mansion. Archie was playing around the tree and accidentally jostled the stand, causing the tree to shake and the ornament to fall and break. Archie, thinking he could fix it, grabbed a spray bottle and attempted to spray water on the broken pieces. Meghan intervened and stopped him from spraying water on "Gan-Gan," her affectionate nickname for the Queen. Prince Harry swept up the broken pieces, commenting on how weird the situation was.

Christmas in Santa Barbara

In addition to the ornament incident, Prince Harry also shared that they had bought one of the biggest spruces in a local car park in Santa Barbara, where they now live. They set up the tree in their living room and spent Christmas Eve FaceTiming friends, including some in Britain. They watched Archie running around the tree and reflected on their blessings of a new home and a healthy son.

Christmas Plans

It has been reported that Harry and Meghan would love to spend Christmas in the UK, but they haven't received an invitation from King Charles. The couple last spent Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham in 2018 before their move to the US. They are eager to see more of Charles, especially since he has never spent a Christmas with their children Archie and Lilibet. However, there have been no invitations from Buckingham Palace yet.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the matter.
