PIERS Morgan has taken a jab at Meghan Markle after he was nominated for top gong.
The TV firebrand – who stepped down from Good Morning Britain for refusing to apologise to the Duchess of Sussex – joked that he’ll ask her to collect his award.
And he dubbed Meg ‘Princess Pinocchio’ in a thinly-veiled swipe online.
Piers took to Twitter after it was revealed that he’s up for his first solo National Television Award (NTA) for best presenter.
The 56-year-old, who will face off against Holly Willoughby, Bradley Walsh, Alison Hammond and Ant and Dec at the show, shared the news with his 7.9million followers.
He wrote: “Most amused to finally be nominated for TV Presenter of the Year at the @OfficialNTAs – though could be a tad #awks for ITV if I win for my work on @GMB.
“Might have to pull a Brando and send Princess Pinocchio along to receive it on my behalf.”
In 1973, Marlon Brando sent Native American Sacheen Littlefeather onto the stage at the 45th Academy Awards to decline his Best Actor award for The Godfather.
The star was protesting Hollywood’s portrayal of American Indians.
Piers, who has long been a vocal critic of Harry and Meghan, has used ‘Princess Pinocchio’ as a nickname for the Duchess on a number of occasions.
He left Good Morning Britain in March after receiving more than 57,000 Ofcom complaints when he said he didn’t believe allegations made during the couple’s interview with Oprah.
During the chat, the Sussexes alleged a senior royal had made racist comments about their son Archie’s skin colour – while Meghan claimed Kate made her cry over bridesmaids’ dresses.
Meghan also said she’d considered taking her own life while pregnant with Archie after begging The Firm for help.
But in one of his last-ever GMB shows, Piers clashed with Alex Beresford after saying he didn’t think she was telling the truth – before dramatically storming off set.
Senior execs wanted him to say sorry on air after receiving a complaint directly from the royal – but Piers said he was not willing to apologise, and walked.
The decision brought an immediate end to his six-year stint on the morning show.
Following his departure, Piers said he had to “agree to disagree” with ITV because he wouldn’t apologise.
He later said: “ITV didn’t get rid of me.
“I left GMB because I declined to apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio.”
In July, Piers labelled Harry a “hypocritical greedy twerp” after it was revealed the prince had been paid £29million for a four-book mega-deal.
