Prince Charles’ nickname for Camilla revealed – and it has a very sweet meaning

THE Queen went by “cabbage”, Harry is known as “Haz”, and William affectionately refers to Kate as “poppet”.

And on top of her royal title the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla too reportedly has a very cute nickname.

Prince Charles calls his wife his “mehbooba”, according to The Daily Mail.

It means “my beloved” in Urdu and is commonly used by lovers to express their feelings to their partner.

A friend of Charles said: “He loves his wife, he adores her.

“He calls her his ‘mehbooba’ – ‘my beloved’ [in Urdu].”

The sweet pet name was revealed after the Queen announced her “sincere wish” that Camilla be known as Queen Consort when Charles takes the throne.

Her Majesty, 95, who is this year celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, said in an address marking her Accession Day: “I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to give me.

“And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me.

“And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”

Charles and Camilla are said to be “touched and honoured” by the decision.

But it is a major U-turn after the duchess took the lesser title Princess Consort when she married Charles 17 years ago.

At the time, royal officials believed there was too much public animosity towards Camilla — married to Andrew Parker Bowles from 1973 to 1995 — following the death of Diana.

But the Firm is understood to have had a change of heart after Camilla’s years of dedicated service.

And she is now expected to be given a historic crown encrusted with 2,800 diamonds when the day comes.

As well as Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and mehbooba, she is also known as “GaGa” by her grandkids.

She told singer Lady Gaga of the adorable nickname at the 2016 Royal Variety Performance.

ROYAL NICKNAMES

Author Kitty Kelley has also told how Charles used to call Camilla his “Girl Friday”, meaning a female assistant who can be relied upon.

Other royal nicknames include “little man”, used by Harry for his son Archie, and William has been overheard calling Kate “darling” and “poppet”.

In return, she calls her husband “babe”.

On the more unusual side, Prince Philip reportedly called the Queen “cabbage”, which may have come about from the French term “mon petit chou”, meaning “my darling”.

But she was also referred to as “Lilibet” and “sausage”, as well as “Gan-Gan” by Princess Charlotte.

Elsewhere, the future king is said to have previously call his daughter-in-law “Tungsten”, inspired by the tough metal known for its robustness and strength.

And a friend of the former Suits star, Gina Nelthorpe-Crowne, revealed that Meghan refers to her partner as “Haz”.
