I’M thrilled the Queen’s endorsed Camilla and will make her Queen Consort to Charles after she’s gone.
She does a great job. I’m a huge fan and always have been.
Camilla was Charles’ first love. But he couldn’t marry her because he had so much to do as heir to the throne and was needed in the armed forces.
They were always good friends but she couldn’t wait for him.
I first saw her in a cross country event with Charles 40 years ago. She always kept very calm and dignified.
When he announced their engagement he said she’d be known as Princess Consort.
I asked if Charles got down on one knee and she said: “Of course.” I photographed the ring.
The Queen was not at the wedding but she was at the blessing at St George’s Chapel.
I remember as she walked down the steps that Camilla looked absolutely stunning.
Charles was finally with the woman that he loved.
Camilla became a fabulous person to work with. Every photographer who covers the royals will tell you she’s the sweetest, kindest person to work with.
I’ve never seen her in a bad mood or angry. The Duchess is easy to get along with. For me she’s always been helpful. I was so pleased to read the Queen’s address that she wants her to be Charles’ Queen. In my view it’s the right thing to do.
It’s what the Queen wants, it’s what the Prince wants and I think the nation will accept it.
But that wouldn’t always have been the case, of course.
Diana is much loved.
I remember the Duchess at a reception for The Archers. She came in quietly to meet the stars. She was so nervous. I also remember her first walkabout at Sandringham flower show.
She was nervous again but people took to her and she was overwhelmed by the support.
Since then I’ve not heard one disparaging remark. I’ve seen her work tirelessly for charities and admired her work on literacy.
Although she dislikes flying she’s supported the Prince in all his overseas tours. They crease up over each other’s jokes.
She gets on brilliantly with the Queen and will be a brilliant Queen Consort to Charles.
She’ll support him, lift his moods and drag him out of his office when he works too hard.
She’s a normal person elevated to this position for her love of the Prince — but down to earth and aware of people’s problems.
She knows she’s there to support Charles when he’s King.
