Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: What Happened to Frogmore Cottage?

History of Frogmore Cottage

Frogmore Cottage, known for being a royal residence and the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, was extensively renovated in April 2019. The late Queen Elizabeth gifted the couple the cottage for their wedding, which is located in the Frogmore Estate with 33 acres of private gardens within the Home Park, adjoining Windsor Castle in Berkshire.

Renovations and Current Status

The refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage cost the taxpayer £2.4 million and was completed in April 2019. Harry and Meghan agreed to pay back the money for the refurbishment when they moved to the US. The property now boasts a designer kitchen and refitted bathroom, with ongoing work still needed, such as repainting the exterior and landscaping the grounds.

Occupants of Frogmore Cottage

After Harry and Meghan left for the US, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank briefly lived in Frogmore Cottage. However, they moved out six months later, reportedly due to drama with the Cambridges.

Eviction from Frogmore Cottage

On February 28, 2023, King Charles evicted Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage following the release of Prince Harry's memoir Spare. The couple handed back the keys to the property on June 28, 2023, and the property is now set to be rented out.
