WATCHING Prince Harry vow to make sure the ‘right’ people are around the Queen to ‘protect’ her in his latest TV interview, I was reminded of a boxer desperately lashing out at imaginary opponents.
Blinded by his own self-interest, the Duke of Sussex doesn’t realise that he is the one doing the most damage.
Let us be clear – while Prince William, Charles and their respective partners have been working tirelessly to ensure Her Majesty is looked after, Harry hasn’t bothered to visit the UK for a whole year.
The duke – whose absence at Prince Philip’s emotional memorial was noted around the world – has instead spent his time deciding to attack the Royal Family on TV and suing the Queen’s government.
To suggest otherwise is a gross insult to his brother and father.
In the trailer for his latest broadcast interview, the man who apparently moved to California for a private life opens up on his brief meeting last week with his grandmother, who he still hasn’t introduced to his daughter.

“Being with her, it was great. It was just so nice to see her,” Harry told the Today show.
“You know she’s on great form. She’s always got a great sense of humour with me.”
It’s no surprise that, with Netflix cameras following him around for an upcoming documentary, Harry is suddenly keen to play up his closeness with the Queen and his royal connections.
Take Meghan’s glowing introduction of him at the Invictus Games over the weekend, which sounded like he was about to receive an award at the Oscars.
“Now we have a man I love and the man I respect so much, his name is Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex,” she said.
You can’t just be a royal when it suits
Why are the Sussexes using their royal titles when they hate the Royal Family so much?
Everything is about money for them, and the new Today interview is just the latest attempt to drum up interest in their celebrity Californian lives.
With the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations on the horizon, the couple are expected to join the rest of the Firm on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
But frankly, they should be banned.
We can be sure they’d push themselves to the front of that balcony, and won’t be standing in the side-lines, unable to be seen.
They would see it as a triumph that they can use their titles, they can get the Queen round their fingers, and they will use her to then sell more stuff about themselves.
When he decided to leave the Royal Family, Harry was firmly told you can’t be half in and half out. He needs to learn you can’t pick and choose, if it suits your bank balance.
Charles will still have ‘profound sadness’
The supposed “olive branch” Harry offered to Prince Charles is another publicity stunt, trying to garner more public sympathy.
I don’t think it was an olive branch at all.
First of all, Harry arrived late. What was he doing beforehand? He couldn’t have been that busy.
And secondly, he was only there for about 10 minutes.
You cannot make amends in a 10 minute visit, it’s just impossible. In fact it’s an insult, because it will only make both anger and profound sadness rise up in Charles.
When I knew Harry, he would always do his best for the Queen.
He would always work hard, he helped his father and he was intuitive.
But, at this time, he is behaving – to put it frankly – like an idiot.

It’s an idiotic thing to suggest that, when you haven’t been around for a year, you are somehow in charge of protecting the Queen.
It’s an outpouring of venom – and not the Harry I once knew.
