Prince Harry ‘chartered £30,000 private jet’ to get him to Scotland in desperate attempt to see Queen before her death

PRINCE Harry is said to have “chartered a £30,000 private jet” to get him to Scotland in a desperate attempt to see the Queen before she died.

The Duke of Sussex was the first royal to leave the Scottish estate and had been the last to arrive after he flew up as news emerged of Her Majesty’s failing health.

And he shared a tender moment with an airline worker when leaving from Aberdeen airport the next day

King Charles and his sister Anne, the Princess Royal, were the only royals who managed to see the Queen before she died.

Their brothers and Prince William got there only in time to process news of her death together.

And it has now been revealed that the flight Harry took to Scotland was on a private jet costing tens of thousands, according to The Telegraph.

Confusion came after it became clear that spouses, including the Duchess of Cambridge, were not going.

5 signs Meghan & Harry could RETURN to Royal life after Queen's funeral

Initially, Meghan was supposed to accompany Harry to Balmoral but Charles made his son aware of the change of plans.

Scrambling to find a way to get Harry to Balmoral, the Sussexes team quickly ruled out commercial flights or trains given all eyes were now on him.

Eventually, a private jet was chartered – at an estimated cost of £30,000 – from Luton to fly him to Aberdeen, while Meghan stayed at Frogmore.

Buckingham Palace had previously hit back against reports that Prince Harry hadn’t been told about his grandmother’s death before the public.

The King’s spokesman insisted: “The public was only informed after every family member had been informed.”

While other members of the family were reportedly told first, it is understood that the Duke of Sussex was not contactable for a period of time because he was on a flight to Scotland.

The Palace’s stance on the issue has been reiterated multiple times

Wearing a black suit and tie, a distraught Harry left the airport with his head in his hand, making the journey to Balmoral by car.

Photographs of the prince show a haunted face, as he returned to the home where he learned of the death of his mother, having just learned of the death of his grandmother.

Harry reportedly snubbed dinner with Charles and William at Balmoral after Meghan was banned from joining the family on the day the Queen died.

At 8am the next day the Duke of Sussex was seen being driven to a British Airways jet which set off for Heathrow at 9.45am.

He was then reunited with Meghan at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor.

After a historical occasion, the Queen lies forever in peace in Windsor alongside those of her parents and the love of her life, Philip.
