Prince Harry’s discussions with William and Charles were ‘very strained’ and only an ‘opening move’ to heal rift

PRINCE Harry’s discussions with William and Charles were “very strained” and were only an “opening move” to heal the royal rift, a royal expert has claimed.

Earlier this month Prince Harry and William shared a private chat while walking away from Prince Philip’s emotional funeral.

A royal expert has said Harry’s talks with William and Charles at Prince Philip’s funeral were “very strained”

Moments after leaving the funeral Harry and William appeared to share words

The tender reunion between the brothers was the first time they have seen each other face-to-face in more than a year after Harry quit the UK.

And the Duke of Sussex is said to have written Prince Charles a “deeply personal” note before arriving back in the UK.

But royal author Phil Dampier believes these actions were only an “opening move” and there is much work to be done.

He told Sun Online: “The relationship between the so-called former “Fab Four”- Harry, Meghan, William and Kate – is now so broken and delicate that everyone is looking for the slightest signs it is getting better…or worse.

“The discussions after Prince Philip’s funeral were a start, but were clearly very strained and only an opening move.

“Harry and Meghan now have all they want to make them happy if they are going to be.

“A son, a daughter on the way, their freedom from the royal family and the means to make money and get involved in cases which interest them.

“To carry on a war with Harry’s blood family is unnecessary and counter-productive, and the sooner they realise that the better.

“They should get on with their lives, stop playing the victim and stop playing on their royal connections by leaking stories while pleading for privacy.

“People can see through it and anyone who advises them to carry on this way is giving them bad advice.”

Earlier today Royal expert Angela Levin also said Meghan and Harry felt “competitive” with the future king and queen.

Ms Levin, who has long been a critic of the Sussexes, told Sun Online: “I think Meghan and Harry feel they are always in control of the narrative and they feel they are in fierce competition – like a battle – with the Cambridges.

“But wise Kate and William are just trying to get on with their lives.”

It comes as Mike Tindall this morning revealed mourning royals were told “you need to leave” after Prince Philip’s funeral due to Covid rules.

The former rugby star, married to the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips, also told of his heartbreak Her Majesty was forced to sit alone.

He told Good Morning Britain: “After the funeral it was sort of, ‘you all need to leave’, so you didn’t even get to have that supportive side afterwards.”

On the moving sight of the Queen sitting by herself he added: “That’s what the Queen does, she leads by example. Amazing to see, but I didn’t really want to see it.”
