William and Kate seemed to have enjoyed their lunch at the pub yesterday afternoon

The family, including a black spaniel, were enjoying a classic English beer garden lunch in Norfolk yesterday.

The pair spent quality time with their children in a heartwarming scene families around the country would recognise.

Heir William tucked into a burger and chips – and showing himself as a modern dad was quick to comfort and console one of the youngsters when their food was too hot.

George, usually dressed in a tie and blazer when on public engagements, looked casual in a t-shirt, shorts and trainers.

The Royal pair looked relaxed and happy as they wound down after a busy run of public engagements.

Kate had recently travelled to Brize Norton in Oxfordshire to meet Afghan veterans, visited cadets in Lake Windemere, and met Emma Raducanu in Roehampton, during a whistlestop tour of Britain.

‘Down-to-earth’

While Prince William attended emergency services day in London, The Celeb Report’s Who Cares Wins awards and visited football youth teams.

A witness said: “It was amazing to see how down-to-earth the family were.

“It would have been easy to miss them – and just assume they were any other family.

“They were laughing and chatting and clearly enjoying each other’s company.”

The witness added: “They were eating outside, I suppose because it was easier for the children.

“There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family. Wills had a burger and chips.

“They had their pet dog, a spaniel with them, and they were all laughing. There was one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot.

“William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out. It was fantastic to see.”
