Prince William resumes royal duties after avoiding meeting with Harry in wake of Charles' cancer diagnosis

Prince William will be returning to his royal duties today after choosing not to meet with his brother, Prince Harry, amidst the news of their father, King Charles, being diagnosed with cancer. William will now be taking on the responsibilities that were originally meant for Charles.

William avoids meeting with Prince Harry

Yesterday, William decided not to meet with Prince Harry, who flew in from the US to be with their father. Instead, William had cleared his schedule to take care of his wife, Kate, and their three children after her recent surgery. He had planned to step away from royal duties for three-and-a-half weeks, but will now be holding an investiture at Windsor Castle today.

Stepping up in Charles' absence

According to The Times, William, who was a former air ambulance pilot, wants to reassure the public by taking on more responsibilities during this time. He is expected to give a heartfelt speech acknowledging Charles' health battle at a fundraising gala for the London Air Ambulance tonight. However, sources have stated that he will not mention his brother's visit to the UK.

Other members of the Royal Family continuing with engagements

While Charles and William have become closer in recent months, the rest of the working members of the Royal Family are expected to continue with their public engagements in Charles' absence. However, it is unlikely that the Princess of Wales will be seen carrying out any frontline duties until after Easter.

It is reported that Harry is open to a reunion with William, but as of now, there are no plans for them to meet. Harry spent the night in a hotel after reuniting with Charles at Clarence House, their first face-to-face meeting in 16 months.

Overall, William is now taking on a more prominent role in leading the Royal Family through his father's cancer crisis.
