Prince William's Loyalty Questioned
Friends of Prince William have strongly criticized claims made in Omid Scobie's new book, 'Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival'. The book alleges that Prince William attempted to undermine his brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Scobie, known as "Meghan's mouthpiece", suggests that William prioritized his loyalty to the monarchy over his own family and leaked stories about the Sussexes to the press.
Outrageous Suggestions
Responding to the allegations, one of William's friends stated, "The suggestion that royal aides were briefing negative stories about Harry and Meghan is totally fabricated. It just didn't happen." Another friend emphasized that William has always been tight-lipped about his family and would not engage in deals with the media. They added, "Like Harry, he is scarred by his childhood experiences, seeing his mother and father engaged in what was dubbed 'the war of the Waleses'. That was something that he and Harry were meant to be united on."
Discrepancies and Controversial Claims
Aside from the allegations against Prince William, the book has also faced criticism for its list of discrepancies. One of the notable claims is that Princess Diana's death in a car crash in Paris in 1997 was the result of her driver being blinded by a "major white flash" from a photographer's camera. This theory has been widely dismissed by French authorities and former Met Police chief Lord Stevens.
The book also challenges the Palace's statement that Camilla will not be Queen, contradicting Queen Elizabeth II's own remarks. Additionally, it questions the Royal Household's diversity drive, suggesting it is merely a PR stunt. However, Prince Charles has previously hired individuals from diverse backgrounds for key positions within the royal staff.
The book further asserts that Prince Charles did not attempt to repair his relationship with Prince Harry after the Megxit controversy, despite inviting Harry to his Coronation. It also mentions that Harry declined an offer to spend the anniversary of the Queen's death with his father at Balmoral earlier this year.
As the release of the book approaches, it has caused a stir with its controversial claims and discrepancies. However, Prince William's friends have vehemently denied the allegations against him, dismissing them as outrageous.
