Queen DOESN’T publicly wish Prince Andrew happy birthday as shamed duke turns 62 with no Westminster Abbey bells

THE Queen has not publicly wished Prince Andrew a happy 62nd birthday today.

Her Majesty’s official Instagram and Twitter pages have remained silent for the Duke of York and Westminster Abbey’s bells have not rung.

Buckingham Palace confirmed there has been no public message as the Duke marks his birthday today.

It is understood public birthday wishes are not made for non-working members of the Royal Family.

Westminster Abbey said: “Due to the financial restraints placed upon Westminster Abbey as a result of Covid-19, the Abbey bells now follow the tradition of the royal gun salutes and ring for the birthdays of HM The Queen on 21st April, Her Majesty’s Official Birthday in June, and the birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales on 14th November.”

Royal fans were furious in 2020 when the Royal Family’s social media accounts wished him a happy 60th.

A statement read: “On this day in 1960, Prince Andrew was born at Buckingham Palace, the first child born to a reigning monarch for 103 years.

“Happy birthday to The Duke of York.”

Yesterday we told how the Party Prince faced a low-key birthday with no official Royal events and no ceremonial bells ringing at Westminster Abbey.

He is expected to spend his day quietly at Royal Lodge in Windsor, the Telegraph reported.

And it is likely he will be further shunned from public life following his £12million settlement with sex crime accuser Virginia Roberts.

The Celeb Report revealed that Prince Andrew will use a family loan to fund the settlement after Prince Charles persuaded him to pay off his accuser.

Royal sources say the heir to the throne met with the Queen last Tuesday at Windsor Castle and then wrote to his younger sibling urging him to “see sense”.

Andrew had been due to face trial over claims he raped and sexually abused Virginia Roberts when she was 17.

He has been stripped of his titles and banished from public life as a result of the saga.

He vehemently denied all allegations.
