THE QUEEN is said to be “totally committed” to hosting Christmas at Sandringham with her family after resting up following a hospital visit.
An insider said the Royal Family‘s gathering at the monarch‘s much-loved country retreat will be a “perfect tonic” after she was forced to cancel royal engagements due to her health this month.
The Queen is now recovering at Windsor Castle after having tests and spending a night in the hospital last week.
According to royal sources, she hopes to make a speedy recovery to spend the festive period with the rest of the Royal Family.
It will also be her first Christmas since Prince Philip died in April this year and insiders said Her Majesty is keen to meet everyone at Sandringham.
A source told The Mirror: “This year, more than ever, it is incredibly important to Her Majesty to be surrounded by her loved ones.
“The Queen is totally committed to hosting everyone as she hopes to make it back to full health in the coming weeks.

“Her Majesty is resting under doctors’ orders with the intention of being able to fully enjoy the company of her extended family over the holiday period.”
The insider added: “After being forced to cancel a host of engagements, the family get-together will be the perfect tonic.”
Prince Harry is also said to want to visit the UK this Christmas so the Queen and the rest of his family can finally meet baby Lilibet.
The Duke of Sussex is reportedly feeling “helpless” at his LA home after his grandmother was admitted to hospital.
A source told US Weekly that Harry went into “panic mode” and has been “checking in non-stop”.
They alleged he “feels guilty about not saying goodbye” in person to Prince Philip before he died.
“He would never forgive himself if the same thing happened with his beloved grandmother,” the insider said.
The source claimed Harry is “hoping to go back home for Christmas with Meghan, if not before, so that [the Queen] can finally get to meet Lilibet and see Archie again.”
After the Queen’s hospital stay, Buckingham Palace announced she would only be undertaking “light, desk-based duties” as she gets on the mend.
Now, the monarch is under strict orders to rest “for at least the next two weeks”, but she reportedly hopes to attend the Remembrance Sunday service on November 14.
Royal sources say they have been instructed to take a “careful and cautious approach” to Her Majesty’s diary in the future.
Palace officials will reportedly create engagements for the Queen based on how she is feeling and whether she needs to travel.
It is understood that there will be an “ever greater collaboration” between senior members of the royal family on future engagements, reports The Mirror.
A royal source said: “The senior royals as a unit have collectively discussed a greater need for collaboration in their projects together, whether that is explicitly working on the same topic or supporting each other on an ad-hoc basis, different plans will be drawn up to the ones that currently exist.
“After the coronavirus restrictions have ended they all feel the need to get out and do more.
“The Queen is aware of the need to rest and that is what she is doing now. No doubt she will be back when she feels ready.”
