ROYAL fans were left baffled by a mysterious third child that appeared to be lurking in the Princess Diana statue – but did you spot it?
The sculpture of the Princess of Wales seems to be depicting her holding hands with two children, but eagle eyed royalists noticed a third hiding in the background.
A little girl and boy can easily be seen from the front of the statue, but a second boy can be seen reaching out and standing behind Diana and the other statues.
One Twitter user circled the strange anomalies in the photographs of the statue, and wrote: “Conspiracy Theory about Diana have a daughter???
“Who is the girl next to her? And why is a third child behind the girl? Why is the third child pointing on Harry with his finger?”
A second user wrote online: “What’s this? There is a third child in the back behind a girl. Who are these children?”
Another Royal fan said: “It’s always been known that Diana wanted a 3rd child preferably a girl but it wasn’t to be.
“Who knows if this depicts that wish or whether it’s a reflection of her love for children in general. Pity Princess Diana isn’t reflected smiling.”
A third added: “Although the statue was nice, it is hard to see the third child..also would’ve been nice to depict Diana smiling. That said, glad there is a tribute to her in her favourite spot.”
Today’s event was small, with just a handful of people invited – not including the Queen, who is on official duties in Scotland, or Prince Charles.
Harry and William have been working together on the statue project since 2017.
It comes as:
- William and Harry ‘swapped texts about the Euros’ but ‘relations are still strained’ ahead of the ceremony, sources say
- An expert claims Harry felt ‘silenced’ by his father after the inquest into Diana’s death
- The Duke of Sussex surprised poorly children at the WellChild Awards yesterday
- And he said baby Lilibet is ‘very chilled’ while Archie is ‘running around like crazy’
- It’s thought he and his older brother may hash it out behind closed doors today before he returns to the US
Prince William and Harry said that they wished that she was still with them “every day” adding “our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.”
The pair laughed and joked together as they came face-to-face for the first time since Prince Philip’s funeral in April.
They didn’t give a speech at this afternoon’s service – but instead released a statement to the media.
In a statement they said: “Today, on what would have been our mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.”
