Royals ‘won’t bother watching’ Meghan Markle’s interview as she made a ‘fool of herself’, expert says

THE Royal Family “won’t bother” watching Meghan Markle “making a fool of herself” on the Ellen Show, an expert has claimed.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams branded the saga “cringey” – but added he’d love to be a “fly on the wall” when news about Meghan’s antics got back to the firm.

In the stunts, Meg dons a pair of cat ears and sings a song about kittens

She appeared on the Ellen Show in America earlier today, where she spilled all about her LA life with Prince Harry and their son Archie, two, and baby Lillibet.

On the same night, Kate and William attended the Royal Variety Performance.

Meghan, 40, also took part in one of Ellen’s famed IBF pranks – where the talk show host feeds cringe-worthy instructions into a celeb’s ear as they’re forced to act them out.

The stunt saw the former actress rubbing a crystal on her head and chomping tortilla chips and cookies “like a chipmunk”.

She was also made to spout a raft of cringey soundbites – including: “Mummy wants some heat,” when chatting to a hot sauce vendor.

But Richard – who has been in the business for years – predicts the royals won’t be interested in the performance, although it will be vetted by the royal household as is standard.

He said: “I don’t think the royals would have bothered watching, but I’d love to be a fly on the wall when they see the clips of her animal impersonations.

“There’s absolutely no doubt when you make a fool of yourself like that, it was just so silly, all of it.”

He added: “It’s an extraordinary slice of American life to watch, and one thing can be absolutely certain – that’s not something Meghan would have ever been able to do as a senior working member of the Royal family.

“The way Ellen handles celebrities, I didn’t think the palace had much to worry about, and they didn’t because she’s cut loose and she’s found freedom.”

Richard also said the silly stunts might not do Meg any favours in the future, especially if she plans to go into politics – which has been heavily hinted at by sources close to the Duchess.

He said: “Finding freedom allows them to behave in weird ways, but in the American context – if I was a republican that she was hypothetically running against in politics, or whatever – I might show her pretending to be a cat, or a chipmunk.”

And Richard also brought up how the show’s message of positivity and kindness – which has been disputed after allegations of bullying by Ellen – is interesting.

The thought was echoed by Piers Morgan, who tweeted about accusations of bullying that had been lobbied against both women.

He said: “Ellen has this ‘be kind’ theme in her show, and it seems it perhaps wasn’t observed, especially by those who produced it.

“And then all you have to do is think back to a few months ago, where you’re seeing this interview by Harry and Meghan – which was a serious attack on the Royal Family – and is the total reverse of being kind.”

He is referring to Meghan and Harry’s explosive Oprah interview where the couple lobbied all manner of allegations against the firm, including that an unnamed member of the Royal Family had made a racist comment about the colour of son Archie’s skin.

But he added: “The interesting thing was, Meghan seemed in her element, she was happy and relaxed.

“She had plugs and nods to her books and things, because she’s clever with all of that. I thought it was pretty cringey – but there’s an audience in the US who would have thought the whole thing was absolutely wonderful.”
