PRINCE Andrew earned the nickname ‘The Playboy Prince’ when he was younger, as he was pictured with his arms around a bevy of glamorous women while out on the town.
But despite that, in his infamous 2019 interview on BBC’s Newsnight, the Duke of York claimed he rarely “partied” and wasn’t a fan of public displays of affection.
Now, pictures of the famously teetotal prince out partying with women have resurfaced, as he faces a jury trial to clear his name over accusations of sexual abuse of a minor.
Prince Andrew has issued a defiant response to his sex abuse claims, including denying that he was a close friend with Ghislaine Maxwell, and claiming he wasn’t a frequent visitor of Jeffrey Epstein.
When he sat down with the BBC’s Emily Maitlis over two years ago, Andrew was asked about his reputation as “the party prince”, a charge he claimed was “a bit of a stretch”.
He insisted he had “never… really partied,” adding: “I was single for quite a long time in the early 80s but then after I got married I was very happy and I’ve never really felt the need to go and party.”
The Queen’s favourite son also questioned the accuracy of a picture that appears to show him with his hand around the waist of a 17-year-old Virginia Roberts Giuffre, insisting it could have been “doctored” and that he didn’t recall “that photograph ever being taken”.
He said: “I am not one to, as it were, hug and public displays of affection are not something that I do.”
Andrew continues to deny all the charges against him and says he doesn’t recall ever meeting Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
Here are six times Andrew was pictured packing on the PDAs as he spent a night on the town.
AURELIA CECIL
In February 1999, Prince Andrew was photographed with his arms around dazzling redhead Aurelia Cecil at London’s fancy Dorchester Hotel.
She was there as head of a PR company that organised a Bulgari party in aid of the NSPCC.
In the photo, he kisses her on the cheek as he places his hands on her upper arms.
Andrew is reported to have dated Aurelia for around 10 months, but he was still present at her wedding to Rupert Stephenson in 2000.
His fellow guest at the event near Salisbury was one Ghislaine Maxwell.
GHISLAINE MAXWELL
Prince Andrew has denied being close friends with convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell, in response to Virginia Giuffre’s claims she was trafficked by the socialite and Jeffrey Epstein to have sex with the Duke in London.
Many accounts from the time claim Maxwell and the prince were close, and a former royal bodyguard Paul Page has alleged she would visit him at Buckingham Palace up to four times a day.
Maxwell was seen as indulging the fun-loving Andy, taking him to parties and introducing him to US society.
In 2000, she famously took him to a “Hookers and Pimps” Halloween party hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum.
One picture from the night shows Maxwell, wearing a bleach blonde wig, midriff-baring top, and golden trousers, with her arm around Andrew as he leans on a red counter.
Andrew is wearing an open-necked white shirt and black suit in the snap, taken at the Lotus Restaurant in New York before they went on to the party.
HEIDI KLUM
Later that same night, Andrew and Ghislaine travelled the short distance from the Lotus Restaurant to the Hudson Hotel, for a “Hookers and Pimps” themed party.
Pictures from the night show Andrew and the German-American supermodel Heidi Klum getting close.
Klum, then 27, donned a black PVC catsuit as she posed with the prince, while Maxwell made sure she stayed close to the pair at all times.
According to the Daily Mail: “As soon as Prince Andrew came into the party it was pandemonium because no one expected to see him there.
“A hookers party for Halloween is not where you’d expect to see one of the Queen’s sons.”
Reportedly, while Andrew chatted to Klum, Maxwell went over to speak to Donald Trump, who was also at the party with his new girlfriend Melania.
CHRIS VON ASPEN
On July 25, 2007, an American socialite called Chris Von Aspen appeared to catch the Duke’s eye at a wild-looking party in the French resort of Saint Tropez.
At a lavish party thrown by a Libyan businessman, the 47-year-old asked to be introduced to Chris, 25, who at the time was dating Prince Albert of Monaco’s right-hand man Bruno Philipponnat.
Chris’ friend, the Haitian-born artist Jeffrey Dread, told the Evening Standard at the time: “Andrew came over to me and asked, ‘What’s her name? She is beautiful. I love the way she carries herself. She is very classy.”
Jeffrey added that there were many “beautiful girls flocking” to the prince, but he only had eyes for Chris.
“She danced with Andrew for most of the evening until the party ended at about 3am,” he added.
“He followed her everywhere she went, even to the bathroom, and at one point he gave her a head massage.”
Pictures show Andrew with his hand on the younger woman’s waist, while another shows the pair with their arms around her as she appears to bite his neck.
An onlooker said in 2019: “Chris later claimed she hooked up with Andrew and you can see in the pictures that he was having a great time with her.
“He had a wild look in his eye – you can see that in the pictures too.”
PASCALE BOURBEAU
Three days after Andrew partied with Chris, on July 28, 2007, Andrew was snapped getting close to another glamorous woman, this time the Canadian actress Pascale Bourbeau.
The Duke brought his 18-year-old daughter Beatrice to the party hosted at the private villa of French-born British billionaire Tony Murray.
Despite his teenager being present, the prince was seen going nose-to-nose with Pascale, the daughter of philanthropist and Canadian politician Andre Bourbeau.
In one of the pictures, Andrew puts his hand on Pascale’s rear as they stand close together.
NADIA BOEJNA
One year on from Andrew’s night with Chris Von Aspen, on July 25, 2008, the dancing Duke was back in Saint Tropez, where he was snapped at a private party hosted by French wine tycoon Claude Ott.
The theme of the party was “White”, and a casual-looking prince in an open-necked linen shirt was photographed apparently grinding with a woman believed to be Libyan model Nadia Boejna.
Snappers who took the photos claimed the pair were “dancing and kissing all night long”.
One onlooker told the Daily Mail at the time Andrew was “swatting the women away like flies” at the party, while another described him as “an absolute girl magnet”.
It is reported that after his wild party in the Cote D’Azur, the prince returned to the UK for a more subdued August at Balmoral with Sarah Ferguson and his children Eugenie and Beatrice.
