SUSANNA Reid raged at Piers Morgan on today’s Good Morning Britain after he arrived on set late “like the Queen of Sheba”.
Tardy Piers waltzed into the studio midway through Susanna reading the headlines at the top of the show, distracting her mid flow.
After Piers took a seat with an exaggerated bow, Susanna fumed: “You’re like some sort of King or Lord. ‘I am coming into the studio’, like the Queen of Sheba.”
The saying refers to a wealthy Ethiopian queen from biblical times and is used to describe someone who is high and mighty.
Defending himself, Piers explained: “I was in the makeup room, and I was having a chat with a makeup artist, Catherine, who had a car crash the other day, and I was just giving her my comfort and support.
“I was showing a little bit of warmth and empathy towards a co-worker, and then I get a procession of people smashing the door down saying ‘please, please, any minute now the weather’s going to end.’
“I was like ‘and?’, the world isn’t going to end.”
Susanna wasn’t buying his excuses and instead said: “We’d just quite like you to be here for the beginning of the program.
Unable to take it lying down, Piers continued: “Did I miss anything?”
“Yes, you missed your headline,” hit back Susanna.
Piers responded: “No I never normally read that bit, you do.”
They then mocked and mimicked each other as Susanna asked to run the tape back to see who was in the wrong.
The spat ended with Susanna revealing she turns 50 tomorrow and joking a row with Piers was a great way to spend the last day of her 40s.
