The King and Queen have joined around 20,000 members of the public at the coronation concert tonight after being “deeply touched” by the “glorious occasion” yesterday.

A Palace spokesperson said: “Their Majesties were deeply touched by the events of yesterday and profoundly grateful both to all those who helped to make it such a glorious occasion – and to the very many who turned out to show their support in such numbers in London and further afield.”

Now, stood alongside other Royal Family members, they will see performances by Take That, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

There will also be performances by Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, veteran rock guitarist Steve Winwood, and Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls.

Singers Perry and Richie were also spotted among the stars at Saturday’s coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey.

British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has been photographed at the concert as well as Keir and Victoria Starmer.

Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York are also enjoying the performances.

Excited Royal fans have been gathering at Windsor today ready to watch the highly anticipated concert.

Tonight’s show, hosted by Paddington and Downton Abbey actor Hugh Bonneville, will see Hollywood star Tom Cruise, Dynasty actress Dame Joan Collins, adventurer Bear Grylls and singer Sir Tom Jones appear via video message.

The series of pre-recorded sketches will reveal little-known facts about the monarch and will also include moments from beloved literary figure Winnie the Pooh – seemingly echoing the famous moment Paddington Bear drank tea with the Queen during her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Classical acts including Andrea Bocelli, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel and Chinese pianist Lang Lang will perform too.

This comes after the Prince of Wales shared a video of himself earlier today, walking up to a microphone during behind-the-scenes preparations.

And, he revealed he will take to the stage to give a speech at the concert tonight.

In the clip a voice can be heard saying: “OK, Prince of Wales. It’s time for your rehearsal” before William strides out towards the microphone.

The Prince of Wales also revealed to royal fans that Prince George is a huge fan of rock bands AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.

William and Kate shook hands and took photos with people at the Big Lunch attendees and coronation concert in a surprise walkabout for on The Long Walk in Windsor today.

Caroline Mulvihill, from the Rock Choir in Windsor and Maidenhead, chatted with William during the meet and greet.

She told the PA news agency: “We were talking about the kind of music we do in Rock Choir and Will was telling us in their household they have a very diverse music taste and George is very much into AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. It was quite interesting to hear that.”

Sam Leckenby, another choir member who spoke to William, added: “They mentioned they were quite pleased yesterday’s ceremony wasn’t the original five hours long. They were just really lovely.”

George, nine, became the youngest future monarch to play a senior role in a coronation yesterday with his Page of Honour duties.

He wore the traditional outfit – a knee-length scarlet coat with gold trimmings over a white satin waistcoat, and stood alongside three of Camilla’s grandchildren.

His role was to hold the King and Queen Consort’s robes during the ceremony.

Royal fans rushed to social media to talk about how “grown-up” young George looked.

One wrote: “How adorable! Looking more and more like his father.”

Another Added: “I’m so impressed with Prince George.

“It really must quite overwhelming for him at just 9 years old to perform this duty stood behind his grandfather, knowing that one day he will do the same and be crowned King.”

The Coronation Concert comes live from the East Lawn of Windsor Castle on BBC One and BBC Radio 2 from 8pm onwards.

TV coverage is being fronted by Kirsty Young.
