Queen Elizabeth II Stakes runner-by-runner guide
AL SUHAIL
HAIL storm. Went close in hot contest over this trip at Meydan in March but the pick of his form has come over seven furlongs. Handles any ground and has run well after a break before but may just lack pace.
ARTORIUS
ART attack. Aussie raider was a cracking third in this last year before another good run in the July Cup at Newmarket. Landed another Group 1 down under in March and has reportedly travelled over well. Will be right there again.
ART POWER
POWER cut. Has landed some nice prizes over this trip at The Curragh but his best has come with a little give in the ground. Impressive Group 2 winner last time but will need more in this company.
BIG INVASION
BIG small. Group 3 winner at best in the States but went close in a red-hot contest at Belmont earlier this month. Likes this trip on rattling fast ground but may just struggle to last home.
CANNONBALL
BALL burst. Looked a tricky ride when plum last in the King’s Stand on day one and no obvious reason why he’ll find the massive improvement needed for this.
COEUR DE PIERRE
COEUR bare. Group 3 winner at best in his native France and didn’t show a lot when held at Chantilly earlier this month. Best form has come on soft and this is a tall order.
EMARAATY ANA
EM appeal. Last win was the 2021 Haydock Sprint Cup but he was back to his best when a close second at the Breeders’ Cup in November. Was flat on comeback at York last time but should show more on his favoured fast ground after a wind op.
KHAADEM
KHAA rusty. Did well last summer with a couple of group wins but he showed very little in Dubai this spring and was held in a Salisbury listed contest last time. Needs his old spark.
KINROSS
ROSS the boss. Good third in Breeders’ Cup Mile but has enough zip for this trip and won a Group 1 here on Champions Day. Handles any ground and trainer Ralph Beckett is in flying form. High on the shortlist under Frankie.
ROHAAN
HAAN solo. Has won the past two Wokinghams so this trip and track are ideal. He handles any ground and looked rusty on comeback at Salisbury. Has been placed at Group 1 level and could run into the frame.
RUN TO FREEDOM
FREE bet. Only tenth in this last year but went close in the Champions Sprint and swooped late for a Listed win at Salisbury last month. Likes it fast and has an each-way shout.
THE ASTROLOGIST
ASTRO turfed. Decent form in Australia but has not been at his best on both UK runs. Has Group 1 form over this trip but needs to raise his game.
WELLINGTON
WELL in. Superstar in Hong Kong where he has won their top sprint twice before having some mighty battles with world no1 speedster Lucky Sweynesse. There’s nothing of that class here, he’s travelled well and has Ryan Moore on board. Huge chance.
HIGHFIELD PRINCESS
HIGH hopes. Was a close second in the King’s Stand on Tuesday when carried across the track by the winner. Solid sixth in this 12 months ago but has improved since and will probably enjoy this trip more. Right there again.
SACRED
STREET Cred. Classy performer over seven furlongs and scored well on comeback at Lingfield last month. Ran well when fifth in this 12 months ago and, with fast ground suited, she could match that effort again.
SANDRINE
SAND pit Won over this trip as a juvenile but has done most of her running over further since then. Lacked pace in a six-furlong Listed contest at Salisbury latest and that’s likely again.
Templegate’s tip
WELLINGTON has plenty of boot in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.
This superstar has earned over five million quid hoovering up the biggest prizes in Hong Kong. He has been running the world’s best sprinter close over there and will love this trip on quick ground.
Ryan Moore is booked and he has a good draw in stall 15 to make his globetrotting worthwhile.
Another raider, Aussie Artorius, was third in this race 12 months ago and returns with a major chance.
Frankie Dettori will have high hopes for Kinross who likes this trip and has plenty of talent.
Highfield Princess was touched off here on Tuesday and is another with a big say.
