THE Larkins has been slammed for yet ANOTHER blunder.
The mistake was pointed out on the most recent episode of Channel 4’s Complaints Welcome.
In a segment called ‘spot the historical inaccuracy’, host Tom Allen asked co-presenters Jessica Knappett and Munya Chawawa to say what fans had complained about in a variety of popular programmes.
After asking about Peaky Blinders and Bridgerton, they played a scene from The Larkins.
The clip saw Cedric Charlton (Tok Stephen) approach Pop Larkin (Bradley Walsh), Ma Larkin (Joanna Scanlan) and Mariette Larkin (Sabrina Bartlett) about their recent purchase of Bluff Court.
The taxman said that they paid in cash covertly to avoid tax and charges.
Pop replied: “Yeah but Charlie, if her Majesty is prepared to put her special face on them notes, who are we not to use them?”
Jessica and Munya couldn’t figure out what the slip-up was until Tom explained: “Despite Brad’s line, your Majesty the Queen didn’t appear on our bank notes until 1960.
“So Brad saying she was on the notes was wrong!
“She was not on the money! Brad was literally not on the money.”
It comes just days after viewers were left furious when the show made a disappointing blunder during last Sunday’s episode.
Since airing last month, fans have dubbed the programme “rubbish”.
And during the third instalment of the ITV show, viewers were left feeling disappointed after the Darling Buds of May reboot made an “obvious blunder”.
Pop and Ma headed to the idyllic town of Margate situated on the south coast of England after needing to spend some time together – but there was a problem.
“I am taking you away for the weekend now, just you and me, I have been knitting this,” Ma excitedly said, holding up a bright orange swimming costume.
However, soon after their arrival, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the pair weren’t in Margate, but in nearby beach town, Broadstairs.
Many took to Twitter to share their disappointment.
One tweeted: “That’s Broadstairs, I was there in September – I recognise those beach huts.”
Another said: “Might as well have said they were in Broadstairs instead of Margate, it’s so much prettier.”
While another fumed: “Really disappointing. The errors are glaring, there’s little effort to follow the original book.
The fifth instalment of The Larkins will be on our screens next Sunday on ITV.
